This political cartoon address towards the Volkswagen emissions scandal. In summary the German car giants, Volkswagen has admitted that they have cheated emission tests in the U.S. According to sources and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), it is known that 11 million Volkswagen brands such as Beetles, Jettas, Golfs and many others have been claimed to be "defeat devices" worldwide. In my personal opinion, I believe the artist is showing some irony implying towards Volkswagen's emission problem and one of their car models the "Volkswagen Beetle," I also get the understanding that people would view this art work and think how deceiving Volkswagen is and how their reputation of building great cars turned into a big lie. Another opinion I believe people would think of would be that this company is no longer reliable since they sold 11 million machines that destroy the ozone layer. when it comes to the persuasiveness of this cartoon I believe to could do better to persuade people. I like the simplicity of the cartoon but I personally feel like its a bit dull and it could do more work on analogy and exaggeration.
